Looking for weather resistant water tank to get fresh water in hot summer & cold winter! You are at right place.
Don't ask about number of plies in a water tank, ask about built-in insulation in the tank like a water cooler
Why Water Tank Thermal Protection is Needed?
- In summer, sunlight heats the tank surface up to 60–70°C, raising water temperature to uncomfortable or even unsafe levels (especially on rooftops).
- In winter, water inside the tanks can become icy cold — even freezing in some regions — making it difficult to use and damaging plumbing lines.
- Maintain usable water temperature year-round
- To extend the tank life by protecting it from UV degradation
- Save water wastage in summer
- Save heating cost of water in winter
Different Methods for Water Tank Thermal Protection
White Paint or Reflective Aluminum Foil
- Low cost
- Easy to apply and renew
- Reduces surface temperature slightly
- Limited protection (~20–30% reduction in heat absorption)
- No insulation for cold weather
- Needs reapplication after every 6 to 12 months
Shed Cover or Roof Shelter
- Simple and effective in blocking UV rays
- Extends tank life
- Expensive structure if built separately
- Offers limited protection from air temperature (still gets hot or cold)
- Not practical for rooftop or large tanks
External Thermal Insulation Covers / Jackets
- Can be installed on existing tanks
- Provides good protection from heat in summer and cold in winter
- Affordable and removable for cleaning/repair
- Insulation thickness & quality of the materials matters a lot. With small thickness of insulation and low quality of materials, its totally waste of money.
- Subject to wear, wind damage, and UV degradation over time
- Needs replacement every 2-3 years
Double-Walled Tank with Built-in Insulation
- Factory-sealed uniform insulation (no thermal bridges)
- Excellent heat and cold resistance
- No maintenance required
- UV-stable outer shell enhances life
- Clean aesthetic look
- Typically lasts 10–15+ years
- Higher initial cost
- Slightly heavier
InsuTank (Water Tank With Built-in Insulation)
Due to the weather conditions in Pakistan, there was a huge need to develop a tank which provides high level of thermal insulation in summers and winters with long life. The demand of such product from large number of customers has motivated us to design a tank which can provide the solution of a real time problem.
Being pioneer of Water Tanks insulation products in Pakistan, Smart Materials Solutions has introduced InsuTank (first insulated water tank in Pakistan, a smart water tank with built-in insulation). With the tradition of keeping up with high standards of quality, innovation, research, InsuTank is an ideal product to protect the water from adverse climatic effects both in extreme summers as well as in winters. InsuTank is designed and developed by a team of highly qualified and experienced team after extensive research work under the leadership of foreign qualified CEO.
More Number of Plies is Nothing But Just a Scam!
We claim with confidence that 5 layers and even 7 layers white tanks available in the market cannot maintain water temperature
Many people think that a greater number of plies mean higher thickness and better insulation performance. Simply increasing number from 2 ply to 7 ply without adding any thickness does not add any insulation effect. The existing 5 layers and 7 layers tanks available in the market do not have any insulation material in their construction. They are totally made up of plastic and they cannot resist heat in extreme summer and winters. All 2 ply, 5 ply and 7 ply tanks have same thickness and weight irrespective of number of plies. Therefore, these tanks when subjected to harsh weather, resulted in uncomfortably hot water in summer and too cold water in winter.
Construction of InsuTank
The construction of insulated water tank is based on innovative multiple layers with each layer having its own significance to ensure highest standards of hygiene, durability and temperature control.
The inner food grade layer made from LLDPE helps to store the water in hygienic conditions.
Middle insulation layer made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) keeps the water cool in extreme summers and warm in winters, and reduces more than 40% energy cost for water supply and storage.
The outer imported fiberglass layers helps to protect the insulation for longer period of time.
InsuTank With Heating Option
The Most Demanding Solution for Colder Areas
InsuTank does not only keep water cold in extremely hot areas but it can also be used in extremely cold areas where water gets freezed and cannot be used. InsuTank can also be used for storage of hot water. Water can be heated in InsuTank using heating elements and this heated water can be stored for longer period of time even in extremely cold areas. InsuTank with any capacity even in 2000L can be manufactured for hot water storage which is a big advantage of such type of tank.
Key Benefits of InsuTank
InsuTank provides several benefits, particularly for maintaining water quality, conserving energy, and ensuring consistent water temperature. Here are some key advantages:
Temperature Regulation:
Insutank helps to keep the water temperature stable, reducing heat loss in cold weather and preventing overheating in hot conditions. This is especially useful in areas with extreme climates.
Energy Efficiency:
By minimizing temperature fluctuations, insutank reduces the energy required to heat or cool water. This can lead to lower energy bills, especially when used with water heating systems.
Prevention of Freezing:
In cold climates, insutank prevents the water from freezing, ensuring a continuous water supply during winter months.
Improved Water Quality:
Stable temperatures help maintain water quality by reducing the risk of bacterial growth and other contaminants that thrive in fluctuating temperatures.
Longevity of Tank:
Insulated tanks are less likely to suffer from thermal expansion and contraction, which can lead to cracks or leaks, extending the lifespan of the tank.
Environmental Impact:
By reducing the need for additional energy to maintain water temperature, insutank contributes to a lower carbon footprint. These benefits make insutank a practical choice for both residential and commercial use, especially in regions with temperature extremes or where water conservation and energy efficiency are priorities.
